So as I've said about 1,000 times at this point---I never expected to start a blog. I also never expected to be submitting freelance writing pieces to online blogs and magazines. But here we are!
I submitted a piece to Her View From Home, a site I discovered a few months prior to starting my blog. To my surprise, it was accepted and quickly posted on their site. They even asked me to promote it on my own social media (eek!), and told me that the more views the article received, the more likely it was that I would be taken on as a regular contributor to their site.
I was nervous, to say the least. This article was pretty vulnerable---and I didn't feel like I had spent enough time laboring over it to make it just perfect. My husband made a good point, though. He said that if I waited until it was perfect, I would never submit it. And I had to do something to get started or I would never get started. That's a wise man right there, y'all.
So even though I feel like the 800 word limit was difficult, and didn't allow for me to say everything I wanted to say, and even though there are still things I would change if I had the ability to edit it again now, I'm glad that I went ahead and took the plunge. Shout out to my husband for being right----this time. ;)
My prayer is that somewhere out there some other mama could be encouraged by reading my article. None of us have the exact same experience, especially when it comes to birth, but many of us have similar ones. And not enough of us have the spaces to share them and process them. So I pray that at least one other person would read this and realize that they're not alone.
It's been a week since it was published. The article will circulate for 30 days, and then Her View From Home will let me know if it did well enough for me to contend for a spot as a consistent contributor.
So without further ado....
How crazy does it look to see my name on there?
